Memodyne Supplement Facts: 6 Numbers on the Panel Explained

Written by the Memodyne editorial team · Medically reviewed by Dr. James Bateman III, MD, MPH, Physician · Reviewed · Last updated · 6 min read

Quick answerThe Memodyne Supplement Facts panel boils down to six numbers: one capsule per serving, 30 servings a bottle, niacin at 47% of the Daily Value, calcium at 1.5%, 400 mg of arginine, 200 mg of citrulline and 40 mg of beta-alanine. Each line has its own amount, so there is no hidden blend.

Key facts

What are the key facts on the Memodyne Supplement Facts panel?

Key facts

  • Serving size is 1 capsule. Servings per container: 30.
  • The niacin line, 7.5 mg NE, covers 47% of the Daily Value. Calcium at 18 mg covers 1.5%.
  • Five lines have no Daily Value: L-arginine 200 mg, L-arginine AKG 200 mg, L-citrulline HCl 100 mg, L-citrulline malate 100 mg and beta-alanine 40 mg.
  • Add the five amino acid lines and you reach 640 mg in each capsule.
  • Part of each salt form’s weight is its carrier, so the pure amino acid is a little less than the printed total. How much less is not published.
  • Memodyne is not FDA approved, and no supplement is. Ask a doctor first if you take blood pressure medicine, nitrates or ED pills.

Why read the panel as numbers?

A Supplement Facts panel looks dense, but it works like a small spreadsheet. Each row is one ingredient. Each number tells you how much, how that compares with a daily target, or whether a target exists at all.

When you know which six numbers carry the story, the rest of the panel falls into place. The checks below take them in order, and each one says what the number means and what it does not.

We retyped the panel from the label image. If your bottle differs from our retyped panel, trust the bottle.

Number 1

What do “1 capsule” and “30 servings” tell you?

The panel gives the serving size as one capsule and the servings per container as 30. So every amount on the panel is the amount in a single capsule, and a bottle lasts 30 days at the label dose.

That sounds obvious, yet it is the number people most often miss. If a page quotes an amount “per bottle” or “per day” without saying so, divide by the serving count before you compare it with the panel.

Number 2

What does 47% niacin mean?

Niacin is vitamin B3. The panel lists 7.5 mg NE, and NE stands for niacin equivalents, a unit that counts niacin from all sources. The Daily Value for niacin is 16 mg, so 7.5 out of 16 comes to about 47%.

Adult men need about 16 mg NE a day and adult women about 14 mg NE (NIH ODS, Niacin). One capsule therefore covers roughly half of a day’s need. That is the one line on the panel where the amount is close to a normal daily target.

If you already take a multivitamin or a B-complex, add up the niacin on both labels. The upper limit from supplements is 35 mg a day, and flushing tends to start near 30 mg of nicotinic acid.

Number 3

What does 1.5% calcium mean?

The panel lists 18 mg of calcium as calcium carbonate and 1.5% of the Daily Value. Adults need 1,000 to 1,200 mg a day, mostly from food (NIH ODS, Calcium).

So the calcium line is a trace. It is under 2% of a day’s need, and it will not change your bones. The form is calcium carbonate, which is also used in many antacids.

Read this line as a filler-sized extra, not a feature. We say that plainly, since calcium is the line a buyer might expect to matter and it does not.

Number 4

Why does arginine show as 400 mg when the panel prints two lines?

The panel has two arginine lines: 200 mg of L-arginine base and 200 mg of L-arginine AKG 2:1 Extract. Added together, they print 400 mg. AKG stands for alpha-ketoglutarate, a carrier joined to arginine.

Part of the AKG line’s weight is the carrier, not arginine. So the arginine itself is a little under 400 mg. How far under is not stated.

For scale, a small memory trial in frail older adults with high blood pressure gave 3.3 g of arginine a day for 4 weeks (Mone et al., 2022). One capsule’s printed 400 mg is about 12% of that. Blood pressure trials used 4 to 24 g a day (Dong et al., 2011).

Number 5

Why does citrulline show as 200 mg?

Same pattern. The panel lists 100 mg of L-citrulline HCl and 100 mg of L-citrulline malate. HCl is a hydrochloride salt. Malate is citrulline joined to malic acid. Added together, they print 200 mg, and part of that weight is carrier.

Citrulline matters to the formula because the body turns it into arginine, mostly in the kidneys. In healthy volunteers it raised blood arginine more efficiently than the same amount of arginine (Schwedhelm et al., 2008).

Trials of citrulline used gram doses, which means 1,000 mg or more a day (Khalaf et al., 2019). One capsule holds at most a fifth of the smallest gram dose.

Number 6

What does 40 mg of beta-alanine mean?

Beta-alanine is an amino acid sold for exercise. The panel prints 40 mg. Sports studies used 4 to 6 g a day, so 40 mg is about 1% of 4 g (Trexler et al., ISSN 2015).

Tingling skin is the side effect people know from sports doses. At 40 mg, it is unlikely. Unlikely is not impossible, so note any new feeling and tell your doctor.

One more detail. The brand’s own ingredient graphic names six items and leaves beta-alanine out, while the panel prints it. We follow the label and say it lists seven lines.

Reading tip

What do the two asterisks mean on the bottle?

On the bottle, the amino acid lines carry a double asterisk. It means no Daily Value has been set. Federal rules require each ingredient and its amount, and a symbol for anything without a Daily Value (21 CFR 101.36).

A blank %DV does not mean an ingredient is unsafe or useless. It only means there is no daily target to compare it with. In our retyped panel the same mark is shown as a dagger.

Honest note

What do the six numbers not tell you?

They do not tell you whether the capsule helps memory. Every amino acid amount is far below the doses used in studies, and no study of Memodyne has been published. A transparent label makes the product easy to check. It does not make the product proven.

Label caution

Pregnant or nursing mothers, anyone under 18 and anyone with a known medical condition should consult a physician before using this or any dietary supplement.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What counts as one serving of Memodyne?

One capsule. A bottle holds 30 servings, so it lasts 30 days at the label dose.

What does 47% mean next to niacin on the Memodyne label?

It is the share of the niacin Daily Value that 7.5 mg NE covers. The Daily Value is 16 mg.

Why do the arginine lines have no percentage?

No Daily Value has been set for arginine, so the percentage column is left blank. The same holds for citrulline and beta-alanine.

What is the arginine total in a capsule?

The panel prints 400 mg across two forms. The pure arginine is a little under that, because part of the AKG line is carrier.

Does Memodyne contain a proprietary blend?

No. Each of the seven lines has its own printed amount.

Why does the brand graphic show six ingredients when the panel shows seven?

The graphic leaves out beta-alanine. The panel prints it at 40 mg, and the panel is the one to trust.

Our view

Our view

Our view: six numbers carry this label, and only one of them, niacin, sits near a normal daily need. The rest are small amino acid amounts that echo ingredients sold in blood-flow and workout products.

That is not a flaw to hide. It is a fact to weigh. The label is clear and complete, and the evidence for the formula is thin. Hold both in your head, and bring the bottle to your doctor if you take any medicine.
